Dance has never been foreign to us.
We live with it — in our weddings, our birthdays, even in how we mourn. It carries our music, our films, our stories. Yet somehow, the people who embody it — dancers — still sit at the bottom of the creator economy. For years, we’ve asked a simple question: If over 20 million people live in Lagos, why can’t dance fill a room of 1,000?
It’s not for lack of quality. The work is there. The dancers are ready. What’s been missing is a system that connects the audience to the art in a consistent, meaningful way.
So we’re trying something new. The QDance Circle is an experiment — and an invitation. We are building Nigeria’s first audience-powered dance economy: a system where anyone can participate, earn, and help grow the audience for live performance. Instead of relying on ads or waiting for attention, we are creating a network of people who believe in the work and are willing to build with it.
At its core, it’s simple. Tickets are ₦10,000. Anyone can join, get a referral code, and earn ₦5,000 for every ticket they sell. If you buy two tickets, you get one free — to share or resell. The more you participate, the more you grow within the system. But beyond the mechanics, this is about something deeper.
For too long, dancers have had to survive on the margins — relying on other industries, external markets, or temporary gigs. What we are building is a structure where dance can begin to sustain itself locally, where audiences show up consistently, and where the entire ecosystem — from performers to technicians to managers — can thrive. If this works, the ripple will be real. Sold-out shows become a system. A system becomes an industry. One show feeds not just the performers on stage, but everyone behind it — and makes the next one possible. This is how a culture begins to carry its own weight.
Our next show, Re:INCARNATION, will be held from June 5–6-7, 2026 at the J. Randle Centre. It’s one of the many steps in this experiment — a chance to experience the work, and to be part of what we’re building. If you’ve ever believed in dance, in culture, or in the possibility of building something bigger than a single event, this is your moment to step in.
